Not the same animal is it?

The Transit is a full blown soundcard with analogue outs/in as well as digital.

The hiface is digital out only.

Soundwise, unknown.

Both stream hi-res audio from USB to S/PDIF but Transit uses Tosslink output while HiFac uses RCA output.

Of course, cable is another varibale.
I'm curious what is the overall performance of converter/cable. Opticals are usually disparaged.
I have no option to compare the two sonically, but M-Audio drivers suck ... as usual.

Sorry, that's what I meant. Most will be going the HiFace route to get away from toslink, I would have thought.

The HiFace also supports more rates.

This little hiFace thing looks like a good solution for my work-based PC, which I use for music, but it doesn't have a soundcard and I'm not allowed to butcher it.

I have the HiFace and I found it very good with the Naim DAC. Better the CD5Xs.
