Inspired last week by Pride and Prejudice, the 2005 version with Keira Knightly, it was Sense and Sensibility tonight, the 1995 version with Emma Thompson, Kate Winslet, Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman. I fear the latter film looses out due to the lack of an LFE track.

I've recently been watching some Hitch, and so far, the two that I would rank as his best are "Rear Window" and "Vertigo". They are both masterpieces.

Some other old "Classics" that I've enjoyed lately:

"Out of the Past" - Film Noir at its best, and Robert Mitchum is The Man!

"The Killers" - Both the 1946 version, with Burt Lancaster, and the 1964 version, with Lee Marvin and John Cassavetes. They are both great.

"All the Kings Men" - I just had to see this, since I read it's being re-done with Sean Penn in the lead role - pretty good, for an Oscar winner.

Also:

"Memory of a Killer" - a recent movie, which I enjoyed a lot. A Belgian crime thriller about a hit man who is starting to suffer from Alzheimer's disease - starring Jan Decleir, who was so memorable in "Karakter".

The Libertine - tour de force performance by Johnny Depp. My sub nodded off once or twice during this one.

Came free with London Times [or I bought DVD and paper came free with it].

You have probably seen lots of it via Queen videos [Radio GaGa].

march of the penguins: wouldnt normally go for this sort of film/docu but it was a present and i must admit its pretty good. music score is excellent beautifully filmed and quite humbling what the emperor penguins go through to protect their young. also worth pointing out that 2 guys almost died during filming when they got lost in a storm -70 degrees, can you beleive that!!

mr and mrs smith: crap! enough said

house of flying daggers: silly martial arts film BUT good special effects and a real test of picture quality for your new plasma hdtv.

It's also a superb test for the sound of your surround rig - especially Chapter 4 - "The Echo Game". I use it all the time for dem and calibration.

Enjoyed both....for completely different reasons!

Dramatic scenes and musical value that will use full potential of a well set-up Naim HT system for sure.

I thought it was very good. We saw 'Howl's Moving Castle' at the inema last year and I thought it was OK, if over-long, but 'Spirited Away' is a much better film.

I agree, this film really turned me on to Japanese animation. A film that really can be watched at many levels, as enjoyable to the young and old alike; and as thought provoking as you want it to be.

I haven't seen 'Howl's Moving Castle'.

R1? Didn't think it was out yet, although I've read the extra footage restores RS's vision, and makes it a very good film.

Yes it is the R1 release which was made available on the 25th May.

The extra story lines and character exposition make the movies a treat and a stunning piece of work.

The picture quality and dts sound track is dvd reference material.

I haven't done any research as I couldn't wait to see this version.

The extras are also very good.

I'd forgatten how good it is.

....Oh, and Eric Clapton Unplugged, LPCM --Excellent. (I know I've mentioned it before, but it's worth it!)
