sxps burndy, 24 hours without bass
Posted by: ARC on 05 October 2003
Having changed to a S-XPS burndy for my CDS2 to XPS I am overall impressed. However, I have lost much of my bottom end. I'm convinced that this is not just a better presentation of low frequency information by the new cable but a lack of what is usually present. Is this normal for burndy run in? Also I presume that as the XPS is switched on all the time that the burndy is constantly being run in or does a CD have to be playing?
Thanks Brendan

Hi Brendan,
The S-XPS Burndy needs 20 to 30 hours of playing-time to break-in.
While you are at work, put the CD Player on repeat mode, and let it play for 8 hours a day for 3 days.
You don't have to have music playing through the speakers, the preamplifiers volume-control can be set to the minimum.
You must also realize that the moment you turned off the CD player, to replace the old cable with the new one, you lost your warm-up.
It takes 5 weeks of being on, to once again reach full potential.
Hope this helps.
Cheers

I agree completely with Rob. The system didn't come back together with the new cable for several days, but when it did - Wow! It kept improving for five week and has now left anything I ever heard with the old burndy far behind.
Cheers,
Don
