Slipper Sizes

Posted by: Dungassin on 18 October 2010

Just been to buy a new pair of slippers (well, winter will soon be upon us). As usual I finished up with a Size 8 pair - moccasin type. Strange, because I take a size 6 and a half or 7 shoe (small feet!). Why arn't the slipper sizes the same as the shoe sizes? This isn't a new phenomenon and has been that way for many years.

I bought a pair of Clarks leather slippers earlier this year - again size 8. They were slightly tight, but I bought them anyway as "they'll probably stretch". Alas, they didn't, so will be finding their way to the Charity Shop sometime soon.

Cheap slippers are a waste of time. The soles are only glued on, and it they stick out a bit at the front (as they usually do), you catch them on the edge of a step and rip the sole off. This usually seems to happen within 1-2months of buying them (sigh) So, I've given up on really cheap pairs.

Ah well, that's my daily moan over with. Winker

Thanks for that, you can't beat a good old moan and that was particularly fascinating. Smile

Oh the irony? Smile

I haven't had a decent pair of slippers since the MIL passed away(Christmas presents).

Perhaps I should start a "Moan of the week" thread. Winker

If you want traditional slippers, you can't beat Church's.

I find the Italian-made Tod's driving loafers (with the rubber studs poking through the leather soles) more comfortable still.

Neither come inexpensively, but they're not cheap shoes!

I'll bear that in mind when my new pair wears out. Thanks.
