Excellent Service

Just wanted to note the excellent service given to me, yet again, by Audio-T in Epsom.

Just to place this in context:

I haven't bought any component from them in 2.5 years. I do pop in now and again to discuss the current state of HiFi and AV over a well made cup of tea. In fact my main amplification is no longer Naim, although I do use an AV2, a 250 and a 140 for the other three channels.

My DVD5 has just started not recognising DVDs. Dropped it off this afternoon and supplied with an Arcam on loan while it is off being serviced.

Frankly this is why I may not always buy my hardware from Paul, but I'd always give him the first shot ....unfortunately he doesn't do any tube or Class A stuff.

Paul & Mike thanks again.

I'd be very interested to read your opinion about the Arcam dvd player, mostly the image side actually.

OdS,

I haven't sat down and really examined the PQ, but I have found it more than acceptable.

Please bear in mind that I use a 37" panny SD Plasma. Where it does suffer in comparison to the Naim is in sound quality - although this is less of an issue if you are only buying with a view to movie watching.

I listened to some CDs last night via the Arcam into my Benchmark DAC1 - ain't in the same street as the DVD5/DAC1.

Thanks for the observations! Although I felt like it couldn't compete with the DVD5 in the sound department, I was curious to read about the picture quality, having read excellent reviews about it. I guess I'll jump in the HD wagon anyway!

OdS,

I will be, but not until there is some clarity about what will be the winner - if either of the front runners does 'win'.

I bought the DVD5 based on:

1. Sound quality;
2. Picture quality; and
3. Naim long term support.

Arcam let me down over the DV88 - the upgrades where FAR more expensive than presaged when they eventually appeared, and I had doubts about long term support. That said PQ was good and I have a lot of respect for John Dawson.

Just got the DVD5 back - new transport, updated bits and pieces .....all for a surprisingly reasonable price!

Thank you Naim & Audio-T Epsom.

A very happy customer.
