AV2 & NACA5
Posted by: Naheed on 13 May 2002
Anyone know if the AV2 requires NACA5 (correct loading or whatever), or can any wire be used as i believe is the case with the 6-50 ?
Reason i ask, is i'm considering the AV2 setup to replace my existing effort, but cable routing is a prime concern - the thought of trying to hide at least 5 runs of the stuff is daunting...
Anyway would i just require the AV2 and 175 to achieve 5.1 status ?

Yeh,you will need to use NacA5 cable due to the design of our amplifiers.we don't use any inductance devices on our output stage instead we use the speaker cable as the inductor which means only one stage of inductance.
The Nap6-50 does to allow thinner longer runs for multi room instalations.
The AV2 is a processor/pre-amp which will require an additional power amp for main L/R speakers or can be used in conjunction with an existing Naim system to feed main L/R speakers.

Ah, so the AV2 is purely a processor...
So to get full 5.1, i'd require a NAP/NAIT for Front L/R, and a 175 for Rear L/R and centre...
F**k i've just checked the prices thats £3395 just for the AV2 and 175 !!! -
AHHH and another 150 for DTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
£2200 for the AV2, i thought it was just a processor ?
Makes the new Linn all in one sound appealing at £2k...

Not only that but the AV2 is just a sound processor - no video processing whatsoever. However, the reports I'm getting are that it is a genuinely, surprisingly good processor quite beyond the performance envelope of most of the processors out there. I'm even told that it makes music!
Now I've played at length with a Lexicon MC2 and that made no music at all at £5k (admittedly with some video processing).

Frank.
