Fourmost:- Got it in honor of the late Jimmy Smith. It also features Kenny Burrell, Stanley Turrentine, and the under appreciated Grady Tate. Just a fun straight ahead live set.

I copped out and bought the CD of this one because of the extra tracks - ace album though.

Last vinyl purchase was:

Bright Eyes - 'Digital Ash In A Digital Urn', 'I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning', 'Lifted or The Story is in the Soil, Keep Your Ear to the Ground', plus a 7 lp box set of the first 5 Bright Eyes albums. I liked the song I heard on the Jo Whiley show a lot...

John Cale in New York in the 1960's, a five record box set in a wooden case. Not cheap, but not too expensive either at € 70. Produced by Tony Conrad. Great, great music.

Reading that Mick Parry had taken charge of some David Sanborn tempted me to dust down a copy of "As We Speak". He is good but imho there are better. More of that later.

I have to say that I found "As We Speak" somewhat uninspiring - background music at best.

Looking on the sleeve credits I see a few names I recognise: Omar Hakim & Marcus Miller.

Having spun "As We Speak" I found Ben Sidran "Bop City" nestling next to it's place. Popped that on - much more my preferred style of jazz-funk. I rather rate Phil Woods sax on this and I do like Ben Sidran's quirky piano playing although I will draw the line ta his vocals.

If you haven't heard this give it a whirl.

Magna Carta Putting It Back Together - I don't know what's causing it but lately I've had this strange compulsion for '70s folk/rock.

£2.99 - Oh No what have I done. Don't tell MP, I'm going to feel guilty I didn't give them my life savings.
