what was your last vinyl purchase?

after a suggestion,i thought it may be wise to split up the "what was the last album you bought" topic into 2.
so to kick it off

I agree, Ivor, I would much rather have a "recommendations" thread, where forumites review an album after they have listened to it, whats the point in telling us you have bought a record? I am listening to Joanna Newsom at the moment, amazing record, she's a classical harpist, with an amazing voice. She made a tape of her stuff, somehow Will Oldham (of Palace, Bonni "prince" Billy , and others) got hold of it, and got her a record deal. She's part of the so-called "freak-folk" genre, though she sings the most beautiful melodies and plays the harp so it sounds a bit like a guitar. Available on vinyl, and not a bad recording. Eva Cassidy on acid?!? I can'r see anyone not liking this one, well metalheads probably won't!

Great thread!
I’ve been introduced to many new artist I didn’t know existed (see kuma’s post above, I never heard of those artist before) and I’m not really interested in a review because I’ll search out the artist myself and make up my own mind if I’ll like or dislike (IMHO).
I’m sure a review thread already exists but I just can’t remember what it was called???

If you don't like the thread, don't look at it. No one is forcing you.
Chill out a bit.

There's room for both types of threads. Guys like listing stuff they have just got and often their description does include a review/recommendation as Lapdog has said.
I'm a trifle wary of giving full-on recommendations as we all have different tastes (can you believe some people even like Genesis or Norah Jones) but will say whether I like an album or not. It's always good to read other peoples enthusiams for different things and I've bought a fair amount of stuff like this, mostly good but a few dodgy ones as well.
This thread is OK.

I caught the last few months of Nick's postings and they were always excellent. It's a shame he decided to move on.
Did he have a disagreement with the Forum?

Andy, I don't think he had a disagreement with the forum, he's just moved on.
A pity, as his postings were always high quality, informative and entertaining. He has a genuine love of music as testified by the size of his collection (v. v. large) and the quality of his hi-fi (one of the best I'm ever likely to hear).
He's definitely one of the good guys...

Does anyone know the difference between the US release (single LP) and the European (double LP)?

Brian,
You're going nuts with vinyl!
I fear my thread may have created a monster. I'm afraid to ask if there is a wife, who may or may not wish to verbally chastise me?
You realize of course, that the cd counterpart is much cheaper?

Keane - Hope and Fears
Really does sound better than the CD version (which I also have). 'Nice' pop.

In respect to Ivor J's sentiments, I am only listing my Kylie purchases, not any of the others.
They are all recommended by the way.

Aric stay far, far away!
For the longest time I was teetering on the fence and your thread just pushed me over and I went for it (it was about damn time). A year ago if you’d asked me if I would ever consider getting into vinyl I would of said no but now I’m so glad that I did + when it comes relaxing and enjoying the tunes vinyl definitely rules (IMHO).

Brian,
I can certainly second the relaxing factor. It's just sooooo smooth.
I'm not sure if you're a Pearl Jam fan, but they have a new album coming out in the next month or so, which by all reports is some of the rockinist stuff since Vs.
And you know how PJ loves to spin the black circle

Via e-bay (and not particularly well packed):-
Infected - The The.
Howard
Small warp makes fist tracks on both sides noisy and skip once each. Just as well it was described as EX hardly played, and like new.
The joys of S/H vinyl eh?
I like the album though especially "twilight of a champion"

I just bought a pile of albums and I won't bore you with the entire list, but one in particular has knocked my socks off: Mogwai - Government Commissions
The BBC really knows how to record sound. Dare I say, a better sounding recording than all of their studio albums.
