I picked up the new LP from The Magic Numbers on Monday (that must be the first album I've bought from a shop on the day of release in about 15 years) and am very impressed with it.

I don't have TV or listen to the radio, so I think I've missed quite a lot of hype about this band, but have been listening to it every day since I got it - highly recommended, and it came with a bonus 7" single and poster too.

HMV online are doing it for £10.99 at the moment (it's £19.99 in their shops), and are also doing the recent Belle & Sebastian 3LP set for £11.99 - I'd recommend treating yourself, as they're both excellent sounding bits of vinyl.

I owe starbuck a beer for that recommendation!

Glad you're impressed too, and that's a very kind offer but I'd settle for advice on how I connect a tape deck to my 32.5, and which input to select to play back a tape - it's driving me mad at the moment! It's connected to din tape input 1, but to play back a tape I either have to select 'monitor' on tape input 1 or switch over to tape input 2 - is this normal?

Anyway, back on topic, what's the quality of the Jamiroquai LP like?

I like the Jamiroquai LP too, its also a double gatefold LP and it sounds very good. Its not quite as heavy as the magic number's one though, but still a nice quality recording.

As for the tape question, honest answer is that i dont know! I only use a tape output for a headline and on my pre i have to select the source to monitor/listen to.

Thanks for the info on the 'Dynamite' lp - I may pick up a copy as I notice that HMV are doing that one for only £9.00. I quite fancy some of the Blue Note cds on offer at the moment, too, so could bulk up the order a bit.

Tape issues (or, rather, my eye sight issues..) are now sorted too, and I've rediscovered the joys of making up compilations. Also forgotten just how good tapes can sound, so am well chuffed.

Thanks again,

Chris.

Magic Mushroom Band - Process of Illumination

Psychedelic cover or what. Playing it now, it's a prog/psychedelic/rock cross over with hints of, country???

A lot of clearly evident sixties/seventies influences in this - but very enjoyable.

Jamiroquai, Emergency On Planet Earth
Jamiroquai, The Return Of The Space Cowboy
Morrissey, Your Arsenal
