Recent Ebay purchases
70's retro time......

Thin Lizzy: Bad Reputation
Thin Lizzy: Renegade
Thin Lizzy: Johnny the Fox
Thin Lizzy: Black Rose

Success rate: 3 out of 4 - 'Johnny' had to be returned as in terrible condition and not 'ex' as stated.
If you accept a 75% success rate, ebay is a good vinyl source.

Seconded.

Bev has the annoying ability to remember that I have bought Beatles and Floyd rarities: he then tells me about his latest ones.... cue one bashed credit card....again....

Wire - 'Chairs Missing'.

As I walked throught the shop door I thought 'wouldn't it be nice if they had Chairs Missing. Then I'd have all three of the first three Wire LPs on vinyl.'

And they did. Which was nice.

John Prine Diamonds in the Rough S/H
John Prine Aimless Love S/H
Captain Beefheart 20 Originals(Spotlight Kid & Lick my Decals Off Baby) S/h

Haven't played any of them yet as my gear is in storage awaiting conversion of a garage into a listening room.

Question for David Slater: how do you find the time to listen to all your records that you buy!
Posted on: 04 October 2004 by Not For Me
Andy,

I have a computer near the Hi-Fi and a Hi-Fi near the computer, so I can surf and listen at the same time.

I also listen on the way to work, and make compilations on my IRiver.

With a bit of dedication, I can listen a lot at the weekends and less so in the weekday evenings.

This reminds me, while my Broadband has been off I haven't kept up the listings - never mind. Roll Eyes

Last week, whilst on a week off work, I visited a local charity shop on two separate days, and on both visits I arrived just minutes after donations of vinyl. This has never happened to me before and I can only hope it happens again – for the princely sum of £1.00 each:-

The Hi-Fi Sound stereo test disc(from 1969!)

Marvin Gaye – ‘The Hits of..’ and ‘I Want You’

Stevie Wonder – ‘Talking Book’

The Stylistics – ‘Fabulous’ and ‘Rockin Roll Baby’

Average White Band – ‘A.W.B.’, ‘Benny and Us’, and ‘Soul Searching’

Bee Gees – ‘Cucumber Castle’, ‘Life In a Tin Can’, ‘Best of ..II’, and ‘Two Years On’ (all Aussie issues on Spin label)

Cat Stevens – ‘Tea for the Tillerman’ and ‘Mona Bone Jakon’

Paul and Linda McCartney – ‘Ram’ (Aussie 1st press on Apple)

Kenny Everett – ‘The World’s Worst Record Show’
The Kingston Trio – ‘Back In Town’ (and looking pretty smooth, it has to be said)

The Temperance Seven – a couple of these. Can’t remember the titles but one is produced by George Martin (and I really like it)

Fleetwood Mac – ‘Tusk’

Bruce Springsteen – ‘Born In The Usa’

Steeleye Span – ‘Original Masters’

Buffie Saint-Marie – ‘The Best of…’

Dueling Banjos (Deliverance OST)

Neil Diamond – ‘Hot August Night’

Ella Fitzgerald – ‘Verve Classics No. 7’

Oscar Peterson Trio – ‘Sweet and Easy’

Dave Brubeck – ‘Gone With The Wind’ and ‘The Greatest Hits of…’

‘Giants of Jazz’ (includes Monk, Bird and Mingus amongst others)

Louis Armstrong – ‘Best of Scatchmo’

There were 38 albums in total (so I’ve forgotten 6 for the time being) and all are in (conservatively graded) Ex/Ex condition, with most being 1st issues - I am astounded that some of these are 40 years old and am well looking forward to my day off tomorrow, when I shall have a chance to investigate them all fully.
