A warning about download site EasyMusicDownLoad

I want to make sure nobody else is conned in the way I was by a download site called EasyMusicDownLoad (http://www.easymusicdownload.com). I came across this site a couple of weeks ago and was very impressed by the amount of stuff apparently available for download. I searched for a bunch of old albums that had never made it to CD and they all seemed to be there. So I registered and paid $30 or so for a two-year subscription. Unfortunately it was quickly obvious it was a rip-off. I was given instructions on how to install WinMX and Kazaa Lite. Their own EasyMP3 turned out to be just another P2P service with less of a selection than WinMX which I’ve been happily using, free, for several years now.
So steer clear. The moral of the story is, if something looks to good to be true, it probably is.

Ahh. Trying to get something for nothing eh?
With all due respect - This must be how the muso's feel when people rip off their livlihood for free. Wink

I know what you're saying Rasher but the only stuff I download and keep is live bootleg stuff and no act ever lost money from that. No real fan ever bought a bootleg instead of its official equivalent. Quite the opposite as I suspect they actually stimulate sales and keep interest going during lulls between legitimate recordings. When Pete Townshend was informed that the first Who bootleg had just appeared he famously replied, "About f****n time".
Overall I'm quite happy that I'm a large "net" contributor to the music world.
