Fraim vs Quadraspire + isolation platform
Posted by: Alco on 20 March 2004
Hi Y'all,
Just like (I guess) most of the people on this Naim forum I love the Naim Fraim.
But...,no I'm not gonna nag about the price.
(although I should, afterall I am Dutch
)
I was wondering the following:
I can imagine that the Naim Fraim does a great job, considering that all the levels and shelves are isolated by ball bearings and/or cones/spikes.
Now, I'm using a plain standard Quadraspire Q4 (well, Q3 in my case)
If I would place some sort of isolation platform (like glass/MDF on small cones)on top of each shelve, wouldn't/shouldn't that give more or less the same sonic improvement as the Fraim ?
Or is it also the mixture of wood, glass and metal ?
Has anyone ever had the chance to try this or compare it to the Fraim ?
regards,
Alco
