Stageline powered by NAC52 or S-Cap?

Posted by: Juliandowd on 26 March 2004

Hi Naimees,
I am using a NAC 52 and a Supercap. For analog I use a stageline, wich is powered by the 24V outlet of the NAC 52. Does it make sense to take an extra Supercap for the stageline. What do you think?
Best regards

Julian:

My experience is with a Prefix, but I suppose that the results will be the same with a stageline.

I started with the 52 feeding the Prefix, then went to a separate Hi-Cap and found a big improvement. Then recently I replaced the Hi-Cap with a 2nd Supercap. Wow! It does look oversize for feeding nothing more than a Prefix, but boy it does work fantastically well.

One interesting outcome I felt is that it is now much easier to fine tune the TT parameters (tracking force, bias, etc) because there is so much less grunge coming from the amplification gear!

Try it if you can.
