hello I just got a stageline and I am plugging it in to my 282...question does going to a seperate power supply help and which one...also does leaving it in the 282 compromise the 282 in any way...I havent tried that yet...any thoughts, thanks Ben r

Yes a seperate power supply improves the Stageline. I had mine running off a HiCap.
Some say if your really feeling rich it will sound even better on a Supercap!!
The Stageline benfits from being on all the time just like other Naim kit. Connected direct into a 282 it is stealing power so it depends how you are supplying the 282. If off 1 HiCap you will probably have a slightly worse situation than with a Supercap but you will have to do the test yourself to see if the 282 sounds worse with the stageline plugged in.

Hi Ben
I power my Stageline from my 252, as vinyl is very much a secondary source for me.
It is better with a dedicated supply - A Hi-Cap is ideal.

Vinyl is my primary source and I power the Stageline with a Hicap instead of the 52.

hello I have found the 282 to slightly suffer with the stageline plugged in so it looks like I am going to get a power supply, if I go to the 252/supercap I guess I could keep my hicap and use that....me thinks the folks at Naim had this planned all along...sneaky devils they are

I dissent slightly, my LP12 is as much of a primary source for me like the NAT01 and CDS2/XPS2 and I run my prefix straight into the 252 and far prefer it to a Hicap.
I think it's a taste thing: Hicap = more refined but less PRAT, straight into 252 = less refined but more PRAT, but factor in the super refined Ortofon SPU Royal N that I now use (and Naim use in their dem room) and also my LP12 is on Fraim which majors on PRAT and dynamics, so for my system and my preferences I have a nice balance, but for different systems/tastes you may find a Hicap to be better.
