So did anyone celebrate?

It was a busy night tonight out on the roads and I took a reasonable amount of money. Smile I also saw quite a few St George flags about. The pubs were busier than normal but maybe it's because of the warm weather...

Steve.

Chaps

The English are not prone to ostentatious displays of patriotism, we consider it vulgar.

However when the need arises such as at times with the Faulklands, we got up and kicked the stuffing out of the enemy. The public backed the forces by celebrations at the ports and in the streets of London. Being true democrats we allowed the pinkos to whinge their pathetic little protests which as usual were totally ignored.

I must admit we could do with another Maggie, she did put the Great back into Britain.

Here are some English girls not being vulgar at all.

PS If anyone wants to know about "true patriotism" one could do worse than read about Pat Tillman

Was that just the English then? Could have sworn there were others there...

Great use of "we" as well - I hadn't realized you'd been in the armed forces, or perhaps you were on "active service" there with the post office?

The first industry Maggie privatised was BT.

Please read this extract from todays sunday mail.

A 3 minute peak rate national call cost 50p in 1984.

Today with competition you will pay a maximum of 9p.

In 1972, I had to pay £80.00 to have a phone installed. Today you pay nothing.

Privatisation is one of the best things ever to happen.

And before you whinge about foreigners buying the equity of these companies(does that make you a racist), please remember the UK makes a fortune from its overseas investments.

Gas and electricity are cheaper now than before.

Seems pretty good to me.

I applaud you for your racial moderation on the Big Ron thread but would like you to be reminded that Great Britain consists of Scotland, Wales and England. The United Kingdom has the addition of Northern Ireland.

Looking forward to St Andrew's Day Wink
