Moto GP 2004

Well folks ,the first round is tomorrow and I intend to stick with Eurosport. The Eurosport team of Toby Moody,Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola is the best by a long way and five hours non stop allows them to demonstrate just why they are the finest. My prediction for the championship is Rossi to win (providing the Yam is not too hard on its tyres),second Gibernau then little Loris-the original monkey on a rocket.I hope that Biaggi is whupped by all the other Honda riders.Cheers Tony

Rossi winning the first race wouldn't be ideal for an exciting season though. If him and the Yamaha are up to speed on day 1 then the rest of them might as well go home.

Even with Rossi winning, it never gets boring. I sacked NTL at the end of the year and have no way of watching the race on Eurosport. Will have to get Sky by the next one.
My bet is on little Loris for the first one.
Whatever happened to Garry McCoy? He looked strong for a little while.

I think this should be the best motogp season we've seen in a long time, mostly due to Vale having the guts to leave Honda and prove himself on a lesser machine.Nice to see Roberts back on an improved Suzuki as well.Kawasaki might also surprise with a few top five finishes. Little worried about the Ducs so far.......As far as the Honda riders go, Sete will be at the front but Colin Edwards could be the big surprise this year.........Looking forward to tomorrow!

quote:Being not a specialist, why on earth is Biaggi so much hated ? I know quite a few people who are into MotoGP but nobody seems to like him.
I hope that Biaggi is whupped by all the other Honda riders
Did he cheat a couple of times, or is there some obscure private affair behind it ?

Biaggi has Schmacheritus he pushes and shoves and the says "I was'nt me that was wrong". Mind you he probably is'nt as gifted or has the vehicle advantage of Schumi.

You can't read too much into the first race, but no surprises so far ! Max and Valentino were pretty evenly matched, so no walkover for either this year. Riding style could be the deciding factor, with Max still favouring his 250 type in-line methods which should bring benefits in tyre management, against Valentio's "back-it-in and rear wheel steer out" style destroying his rear but demonstrating that he can still handle it when the tyres are shot.
Quite a good start, Sete also showing that he can be on the pace with a cheeky nutmeg on Max on lap 4.
So far, so good.

I think somebody should teach Biaggi how to shave his goatee properly.I've yet to see it straight..........

That was a good race, with both riders obviously pushing very hard. The Honda looked very quick.

Personally having abandoned the bikes a few years back, with their chainsaw sounding two-stroke shrieking, for the even more boring F1 scene, (well at least as pasing and jousting on the track are concerned) - I watched the first race, and thought Valentino was just completely and utterly amazing re his bike control.
Biaggi appeared to have the better/faster bike, but Valentino just pulled the goods out of the hat in the last few laps, re his riding. I'm can't remember an F1 race that was a rivetting.
I also loved the unpretentious and fun-loving personality that Valentino seems to project; his having to stop re being overcome with emotion after winning the race brought a lump to my throat. He seems to have such a sense of vitality and love for life.
If he was ever to transfer to F1 I think he could teach them all more than a few lessons, and not just in riding/driving skill.
The consumate sportsman IMHO.

F1 would change Rossi not the other way round.
