Seconded
Joking apart; it says something about us that we (me included) depend on this strange form of communication and interaction; and get a bit twitchy when it's not available.
Welcome back indeed. I can get a refund on the cocaine, now!

How long was it actually off line. It seems like weeks.

Update. There appears to be nearly a weeks worth of Posts missing. What a bugger.

Dan,
From a post at Pink Fish Media forum by (our) J.N.
"This from Richard Dane at 10am today (Friday):-
Hi John,
The server we were on died and the guys at Infopop are trying to reinstate a backup of the forum from Wednesday. They supposedly have two technicians working on it but I wouldn't expect any more progress until later due to the time difference. Sorry for the inconvenience, normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.
Regards,
Richard

Fortunately, I cached the last two weeks' posts. Here's a quick top ten:
10. If you're thinking of upgrading a 72/140 system, you can't settle for less than a 252/500.
9. Paypal sucks!
8. Olive is better than New. Is not. Is. Is not ...
7. Neat speakers kill Naim! Do not! Do too! Do not ...
6. How do I connect two hicaps to an 82? Do they need to be of the same vintage?
5. Looking for a recap? You'll have to wait a bit longer.
4. There's something to this crazy mains' spur thing.
3. The DVD5 is still being tweaked but can be seen at various hi-fi shows (in England).
2. Hutter, Mana, Isoblue, Fraim, Fraimkea? Is any of it worth the money really?!
1. Cool, home-made speakers!

Skraft,
That's great. Gave me quite a laugh. You pegged it.

And thanks to Tony at PFM for putting up with the sudden influx of Naim forum members.
"So long and thanks for all the fish" isn't quite the right sentiment, but you know what I mean.

As an Infopop customer, Naim Audio is rather caught between two stools here -- my sympathies! The backup used for restore, although functional to a degree appears to be neither clean nor stable. "Search" is still up the creek. It will "find" messages posted after the outage, but cannot locate them. It looks as if the index in use is more recent than the data, or in other words, out of sync.
This seems to have been a widely-spread Infopop problem (see here and here). It isn't just Naim, and there appears to have been some warning of possible problems.
Best;
Mark

So let me get this straight:
-- Well connected businessman and Mason Mick Parry inadvertently reveals details of a bizarre sexual liason/porno shoot with Marco and/or Steven Toy.
-- Shortly after the Naim forum goes down.
-- When it comes back all information since March 3rd, including the Marcogate posts, have been "lost"
It stinks I tell you stinks.

I know what caused the forum breakdown! It was obviously the "export sales manager wanted" sticky. It's missing now, and the forum works!
Posted on: 13 March 2004 by Thomas K
Has anyone else noticed that there are no more "topics" in the "new since your last visit" list, i.e. if someone's started a topic, the list no longer shows the initial post as "Topic: The Truth about Marco and Mick", but as "Reply: The Truth about Marco and Mick in The Truth about Marco and Mick"?

As a relative newcomer round gere I was shocked by how much work I got done while the forum was down. Anyone else find an upsurge in productivity?

I think we should all make a donation to Infopop to buy some computer books. I would buy them:-
1) How to write a search tool for dummies
2) Backup procedures for dummies

"Search" is back with a vengeance. Now works magnificently, results all the way back to July 00. That's better.
