Weezer

I've had far too much to drink and, in these circumstances, I often find myself listening to Weezer's first record called, reasonably enough, "Weezer", released 1994. It includes the poptastic single "Buddy Hollly", which is a pop gem but much else is dark and wonderful.

But then I'm pissed!

Good intelligent Guitar Pop/Rock IMO

Quite like The Green Album, and Maladroit as well, though despite excellent reviews haven't really managed to like Pinkerton as much!

All the Weezer albums have had great reviews.
Pinkerton is the poorest, Maladroit and the Green album are about on a par, but the Blue Album is still the best.
Buddy Holly epitomizes that pop rock tune, closely followed by Island in The Sun from the Green Album.

Rasher: Still there, I believe! But thanks for your concern. Now where's that bottle of Macallan?

Greeny: I hadn't even heard of Maladroit. When did that come out?

Maladroit was hot on the heals of The Green Album (6-8 months after). I think Cuomo was in hospital or injured or ill or something post pinkerton (97-2000) and couldn't tour or record, however he could write and apparently put down dozens of tracks whilst ill. These then came out on The Green album and Maladroit when he got better.

Thanks for that. Will investigate. I thought I'd heard somewhere that Rivers Cuomo went to Harvard or Yale at some point after Pinkerton. Will have to check their website.
