The DC1 'digital' Cable.

Ok, let me say from the outset, ordinarily I simply do not 'listen' to cables. I find it a tiresome task, and somewhat boring.
Many years (20 odd) ago it was suggested in the Hi Fi press that using a seperate (6mm!!) spur to power the Linn / Naim system would be beneficial. I was having the house re wired so had nothing to lose. Much to the mirth of the sparkies I had one fitted.
It made a difference.
I joined here a year ago, and at the time it was being suggested that moving to 10mm spurs would be very beneficial.
The house was in turmoil so I went for it, with again nothing to lose. Now we have 13 of the things... It works..
I ordered a DVD5 to go with the the rest of the system at the Bristol show last year.
It simply never ocured to me that Naim would be making a digital cable, so I looked for a good one, and came up with one @ a 'guaranteed' 75 ohm and triple screened, with rhodium plated plugs etc.. it will do the job I thought, it's only an digital interconnect for heavens sake.
So everything has been plugged in and working tickety boo.. and I have been listening to more music, both on DVD & cd/vinyl than I have in a decade (kids>> ok!)
Then the DC1 is announced.. Damn. It cannot be any better, so never thought anything of it.
An interesting conversation with Adam followed some time ago, & he suggested that I did make the effort and get one on loan.. He was fairly convinced it would make my system sound better.. Me, well, lets say I was somewhat sceptical.
Adam, you will be allowed the <I told you so> but, just once, please. It will cost you a pint though.
It was fitted last night.
I wont be taking it back, so out with the plastic yet agin.
How??
It's a 1m long lead, covered in a black plasic braid, through which can JUST be made out a cable direction indicator. I dont know if it is screened (I guess it must be) or if it is 75 ohms. It is terminated with 'nothing special' gold plated phonos, and sealed to the plastic braid with glue filled heat shrink tube.
You get the picture:- another Naim lead made for the ear not the eye...
& yet again it flippin works..
I guess it should - who knows better than they do how to make a DVD5 talk to an AV2?
Price - as already announced on here:- £150.00
But it still aint going back.
So much extra detail.
Cleaner, clearer and more 'resolved'
Sorry. we are talking about a digital cable here - so how it does this is very much beyond me.
Lets just say it is way, way more 'musical'
Dont you just hate it when you know someone is going to say 'I told you so' & that they are correct in doing so.....
