FOX and its viewers
Posted by: ErikL on 10 April 2004
I heard on the radio this morning that
PIPA, a U. of Maryland group, polled Americans and found the following:
60% of Americans believed there was either a tie between Saddam and al-Qaeda, that WMD's have been found in Iraq, or that global world opinion favored the US invading Iraq. The most frightening thing is that the poll found FOXNews viewers
to be THREE times more likely to believe these things than anyone else.
This might be old news, but it was the first time I heard it. I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry. It also solidified why Bush appears on major sports broadcasts on FOX (NFL playoffs, Daytona 500, baseball opening day)- the only people that believe him are watching.

Your sorrow, Ludwig, is a sign of your lack of faith.
I remain convinced that Fox News is actually a satirical production from the same people that produce The Simpsons for Fox -- Harry Shearer, Matt Groening, and the others.
In the same way, I have complete faith that USA Today is a satirical offshoot of The Onion. The humor is so dry that many people don't detect it.
And of course, Cops is produced as a joke by the people that make Reno 911. Reno 911 is for the people that don't "get" Cops.
The rest of America has faith and believes, Ludwig. Why not you?

Why no faith
Upon moving to Seattle, I was abducted by a group of free-thinking beatnik pinko commies who took me aboard a gargantuan chocolate brown '74 Volvo wagon-shaped spaceship for reprogramming. All along I thought I was in graduate school, but this was not the case. I should've known when I found myself lobbing rocks at limousines exiting the WTO meetings and later burning a Hummer dealership to the ground. One night I woke up, feeling drugged, strapped to a chair before a TV loop of Jim Lehrer Newshour programs. I tried to flip to Fox for a dose of real news, but I was locked onto PBS. I couldn't change the channel. God, it hurts my head to re-live those moments. Anyway, this is how my faith was drained from me. Am I lost forever?
PS- Contrary to your point, my abducters told me Cops was the KKK's official weekly news program. This isn't true?

Just to be a pedant the Daytona 500 was on NBC but I see your point.

Relax, LudwigKerry will win.
The average american is more likely to believe the lies and half-truths the Dems put out than the lies and half-truths the Reps put out.

You are sitting at home, thousands of miles away from Iraq. How do you know that Fox is not accurately reporting the facts.
They may be totally honest.

Fox News
Anchor: (to the reporter) "How's the 'shock and Awe' going?"
Reporter: "The 'shock and awe' is going just great"
This was an actual exchange on Fox News shortly after the war started.
Hah!!!
