Popularly attributed to Keith and Brian Jones (even Mick says so); officially credited to Jagger/Richards.

More importantly, who allowed a mediocre chain of mall eateries in the USA to hijack the name?

I can't stand Queen or Meatloaf, but do like the occasional very loud burst of the Violent Femmes, innit.

Could it have been Ted Heath I wonder ? Big Grin

Maybe Our Graham55-55 could lend 1st timer Eddie his SKY Albums to optimise his setting up of his new toys ?

Good Luck Edward, I was only joking, he's never heard of SKY anyway I expect, as they're foreign Cool Don't think they ever covered Ruby Tuesday ? Though maybe Marianne F shagged Mr Williams for a larf at some point, innit Razz

If it wasn't Jagger and Richards I sincerely hope Carter USM ask for their money back after being sued by the miserable old bastards back in the early 90's. As I remember they used the line, "Goodbye Ruby Tuesday, Come home you silly cow" in a song bearing no resemblance to the Stones song (After The Watershed I think).

You're right, Jonathan - "After the watershed" is a cracker - the b-sides on the CD single are also excellent.

BTW - I remember Ruby Tuesdays - saw a couple while I was in the States. Made me laugh for a few moments, that one Smile

When I moved to London in '83, I fell over at seeing "Spud-U-Like" ...

Maybe it was Brian Wilson ?
Posted on: 18 August 2005 by Berlin Fritz
I know it wasn't Harold Wilson !

Maybe it was Sgt Wilson ? Big Grin He seems Wise !
Posted on: 18 August 2005 by Berlin Fritz
Though another point: It could well have been
Woodrow Wilson (though that's twelve points ?)

No ! I think the first of the Wilson's seems most likely, if of course it was him ?

Brian Wilson Cool (Though he's probably not clever enough in reality !) innit:

But that's only my opinion Big Grin

I think Handel wrote the classical version though ? Razz

I thought it was Melanie that wrote it, don't know why though, maybe because it's the sort of maudlin song I'd expect her to write. I know Brian J played the recorder, because I remember seeing him doing it, of course he could have been miming, a lot of that went on then, perhaps Melanie played the recorder as well, it's the sort of maudlin sounding instrument I'd expect her to play.

I wonder what she's doing these days ?

Melanie covered Ruby Tuesday on Candles in the Rain, but it is credited to Jagger-Richard on my version.

Does it matter that much who really wrote it?
