Their albums have collected dust until recently- now I'm addicted.
Recommended if you might get off on spazzy jam sessions of $49 Casio keyboards, distorted guitar, horns, drums, and often childish singing (some is much quieter than these wild outbursts).

As well as "Milk Man", "Apple O'" and "Reveille" are also essential. For fans of avante-garde noise pop that it.
As are, according to to Pitchfork, the earlier albums which are all reviewed here (About one third of the way down)
Matthew
(There's a bit in "Milk Man" that I keep thinking its going to turn into "Song of a Baker" by The Small Faces)

And for those who dig Nick's linked MP3s, Deerhoof's label Kill Rock Stars is having a vinyl sale- $10!!! While there, pick up some Decemberists, Xiu Xiu, John Wilkes Booze, Microphones, Mirah, and of course Sleater-Kinney. Great label!

Made a mental note of this thread a couple of weeks ago. Remembered it and bought Reveille and Milk Man today. Reveille is particularly good. Bordering on splendid, in fact.

I shall flood my neighbors with some bonkers Reveille and Apple O this afternoon...

The fact that ubermuso Sideshowbob likes it gives me great confidence that I might have finally found a corner of my collection that I can play to John C without him looking like he wants to leave.

PS Ludwig -- Fiery Furnaces finally arrived today and I am *loving* it. Am resisting a NH rating as I have vowed to a) give them at least a week an db) not rate albums while drinking.

It's great isn't it? The album's carnival theme and show-tuney psychopath indie chick on acid sounds are definitely unique.
Your a) above is a good idea. I shot my load on a few too soon.
