140or 180 upgrade advice please!

Hi There
my system;- CD3.5, f/c,72, f/c, nap90.
I was wondering about upgrading the power amp (yes getting a hi cap would be the obvious choice...?!) with a second hand 140 or 180. I understand the 140 has a reputation for being smooth & the 180 being a bit 'fiery'. Second hand 180s aren't a great deal more than 140s so are they 'worth' the extra? My speakers are rather polite but sweet ruark prelude 2s.
Thanks
Thomas

I think the 140 is a very good match for your 72. Go for it, and use the extra cash on a used hi-cap.

(I use a 140 on rather "polite" speakers, too, and it works great)

I use a 72, hicap, 180 but used to have a 140. The 180 puts you in the same ballpark as a 250 at about half the price, and I think it is a good deal better than the 140.
