My DVD's of "Live Shit..." & "Some Kind Of Monster" 'arrived' today (actually, they arrived several days ago, but wife put package under phone table and forgot to tell me! Roll Eyes)

Watched Monster this afternoon and enjoyed it much more than I was expecting. Immediately after went and stuck St. Anger on in the kitchen with the volume wacked up while doing my dinner, now with much greater appreciation of what went into it's creation. Looking forward to watching/listening to the live dvd's/cd's.

My wife is much more of a fan than I am. I bought the double DVDs for her.
Though she said the sound quality on the live performances isn't as good as the studio CDs.

But I just enjoyed the energy and humour coming from the band. Being able to see them perform with surround sound added into the mix lifted the whole thing to another level. I wouldn't normally sit and listen to a Metallica CD.

I'm still using my 72/180 to drive my front speakers with the Kans as surrounds for 4.1 via a DSP-E800. Going back to stereo with exactly the same kit was completely flat and lifeless after that.

I'm sure I was sweating almost as much as the band after an hour of enjoying the raw power @ 100dB. The bass was absolutely awesome.
No sign of heat build-up anywhere in the system either.

Arse! You guys have just reminded me - that's ANOTHER DVD I've bought, stashed, and not watched.

I saw my mate's copy when it first came out, but only through a (mono!) telly...

Damn! And I thought this was going to be about a DVD recording of a Caravan concert!

Maybe I'm just getting old!
