Am I the only person to find the display of members online slightly unnerving?
Will Adam be keeping a tally of hours spent online and then publish a monthly list of the saddest people?

I think it's slightly irrelevant anyway as I guess that a good percentage of us have broadband and look at the forum from work. I don't always log off but just minimise the window and refresh when I take another peek, so it probably looks like I'm here all the time.
I don't think I'll do that anymore.

Am I the only one who hadsn't noticed it. I usually just access the rooms directly then move between them using the menu you get when you click on the house icon (above and below).
I did notice that there is a chat room facility though it doesn't seem to be enabled. So I guess that seeing who is on-line would be useful if you wanted to converse directly with someone else.
Though watching seagull jrs usage on MSN most of the conversation consists of incomprehensible abbreviataions of words and phrases (derived from txt spk) and emoticons...
so its much the same as a hi-fi forum then

Graham,
on the hi-fi+ forum it will actually teel you where the members is on the forum. I find it quite interesting.
The 350z forum also has top ten's i.e. top ten posters, top ten posters for the day, top ten topics, etc. Again it can be quite interesting.
If there was a list of the time each member spends on the forum then I would probably win/lose hands down!

Obviously, you (or the consultants) are adding new features. I quite like the "Online Now" thingie, but...
A complete list would be helpful (people not in the list would be not online, then...)
Action I can take with the entries would be nice, too: Like "Invite into a chat room"
Any plans, here ?
cheers,
Stefan

Online now information is useful on fora with e-mail/private topic/chat room facilities.
What I find un-nerving is it seems everytime I log on some thing has changed, page size, who's online and now a different post a reply page. .
Why do I loose my curser after using a smilie? (Mozilla Firefox)

There are currently 59 member(s) and 65 guest(s) on the forums.
Anna Tooth, Barnie, Basil, Chris M, cookster, cunningplan, Cymbiosis, Dave J, davewhit, DF, Edouard, glevethan, Hawk, Huwge, i am simon 2, ians, italy04, Jim J, joe loss, JonR, Markus Sauer, Martin D, Matt Gear, Matt worlock, reductionist, Roy T, Stan, Tam, Webke, willem
Hmmmmm, the display would suggest 59 members online but I count only 30. What has happened to the rest of the browsing members?

very interesting, but stupid as my friends Rowan and Martin used to say. I never noticed this before.
now I can see, 51 members (against a count of 30) and 61 non members.
Firstly, if the number of members is overstated I presume that the number of non members is too and secondly I assume that some of the non-members are actually members who are not logged on.

SORRY - I don't know who switched it on but it is not my intention for it to be activated.
I was away today and, upon discovering it running, remembered why I didn't like it.
It does add something but I think many would rather read without giving away their presence until they post.
I think there is a setting to show/unshow moderators - Stealth Moderation. Even I find that a bit scary.
