Remote Control Conflict between Naim and Arcam

Posted by: Roger40 on 21 April 2004

For AV listening I purchased an Arcam AVR200 surround sound receiver. The main stereo pair from this fed into my NAC62/NAP250/SBLs. When listening to the AV system, the volume control on the NAC62 was held constant (12 o’clock) while I adjusted the volume remotely on the Arcam. Everything was fine until I upgraded my NAC62 to a NAC102. This was because I wanted remote control volume capability when listening to my CD5. The problem was that both the Arcam and the NAC102 both respond to the remote volume control at the same time. This makes it impossible for me to listen to the AV with the remote control as both the volumes change independently. To solve this I have had to result to stick thick black tape over the remote control sensor on the NAC102 whenever I use AV, and then peel this off again when I want to listen to CDs.

Has anyone any better ideas than the sticky black tape stuck on the front of my NAC as it is quite messy?

Cheers
Roger
