Upgrade IBLs to SBLs. Good Idea?

Posted by: Crusher on 16 March 2004

I have a pair of IBL speakers which I am happy with BUT the upgrade bug is biting. Has anyone gone from IBLs to SBLs and if so was it a good move? What are the main improvements, any comments/info much appreciated.

I have now heard IBL's and own SBL's, both are fantastic speakers and there are some people who prefer the IBL to SBL. I can't really see why though unless you have a small room or trying to cure a room boom problem, becasue I think the SBL does everything a IBL does and adds scale, weight and volume. Don't get me wrong though, the IBL is an exceptional product and if you have a small room is probably a better option than a big speaker, but I do think a SBL gives you more.

ps. If you want to sell your IBLs let me know! I want a pair for system no.2

I remember having a demo of IBL's Vs SBL's and although the IBL's were very good, I felt they were beaten in every respect by the SBL, which is why I bought the SBL.
I'd say an improvement all round.

Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......
