Am I alone in thinking

That many managers are more concerned with their personal wellbeing (IE egos) than the successful running of a company?

I'm probably over reacting but it does rather make me feel like puking when I see middle managers 'sniffing' round upper managers, false smiles et all.

I really distrust these people.

Middle Managers, Upper Managers...???

What do all these people do? managers managing managers. I work in a company with 3 people, Me, my boss and our secretary. We run a relatively substantial business and whilst a lot of our admin and accounts are outsourced, we do everything ourselves. I always find it difficult to imagine how anything gets done with so level layers of managers in a a large company. How long does it take to get a decision on an important issue?

Dont fill your offices up with managers, give the people at the coal face some autonomy and you will be surprised how effective it can be.

Your first line summed them up.
Quite rightly most of the managers and the layers they represent are a waste of space.
Better carpet in the office, size of that office, the next level of company car etc these are the "real" problems to solve. They will have a meeting to sort it out I expect.

I fully realise the option of seeking alternative employment - I was just wondering if I was alone in mistrusting what I see as egotistical managers.

I also know that I take things VERY personally so I realise that need for me to work on some of my own issues......

Fisbey, I’m in a similar position, hence my comment. I'm actively thinking weather to tolerate it or just try to move on.

Would that be the extended or the unextended (answer) ?
