CDX lens cleaning?

Posted by: hicapman on 17 March 2004

My CDX is nearly 3 years old and wondered what is done about lens cleaning, if anything.I presume there would be a build up of grime on the lens.I live in a non smoking houshold.

A gentle blow and nothing else!

Not recommended to touch the lens at all!

Well, two years ago my cdplayer started to have problems reading some discs. I bought a Trackmate cd with some carbonfibrebrushes on it. My cdplayer is still working fine....

hi all,
picking up on the cdp thread, my cousins just bought a 2nd hand cdi about 6-7yrs old . should he get it serviced . and at what age should a cdp be serviced? i know power supplies are about 10yrs.
i spoke to someone at naim a long while ago and it used to be of the opinion that as long as the cdp is playing o.k. that you should leave well alone.
is this still the case??

Scotty,

I contacted Naim earlier this year about CD service intervals. As you say, they advised "if it is working well and sounds good, leave it alone".

Asked about costs of a CDI service in particular, they advised that "the mechanism for this player is no longer available and we have a limited number of re-furbished ones, the cost including fitting and VAT is about £330. A service replaces about 56 tantalum capacitors and a few more components and the DAC if necessary for about £300".

Hope this is of some help.

Jack.
