Ittok stripdown
Posted by: Rockingdoc on 25 March 2004
My Ittok is knackered, with patches of resistance to swing in the horizontal plane.
As we know, Linn have had nothing to do with these for years now, so what options are there?
I thought I might take it to bits, anyone done this? Any tips? Any spares?
If all fails, I have an Origin Lived RB 300 which I will screw to the trusty LP12. Anyone done that?

Bin the Tik-Tok, treat yourself to Naim's glorious ARO.
You know you want one

That isn't a bad thing, my Ittok sounds better this way, with around 0.5g of downforce and the rest set via the counterweight (thanks Jonathan!).

Well if you should decide not to take it to bits I'd quite like to.
But it may be worth calling Linn and asking. Perhaps they'd turn it into an Ekos for a reasonable amount?

There
was a trade-in allowance available on knackered Ittoks against an Ekos, buy I've no idea how much or whether its still available, maybe ask your dealer.

Sorry I don't have mail, 'cos my Hotmail account has died. I've changed my profile to the current address.

I have a hard time seeing how the Ittok can be useless. Someone assembled it in the first place, after all.
I can understand how it might not be cost-effective to hire someone to do the work, but why can't it be done?
Thanks.

My point exactly Phil. This was a costly bit of kit in its day, and really ought to be repairable. I plan to have a look inside it, and see what can be done. I am surprised if everyone else has just thrown them in the bin.
I bet Linn have got a box of bearings somewhere, but can't be bothered.
