What was your LEAST cost-effective audio upgrade ever?

Inspired by Travec's thread, let's hear your tales of woe.

72 -> 82.
Never enjoyed the music so much. 52 puts that back.

MArantz CD63 -> Naim CD3. Although this was a huge improvement it still didn't make me want to listen to CD's so sat unused (I still have it and I bet its played no more than 100 CD's in its life).

It took going to CDX/XPS to make CD's as enjoyable as my LP12.

B&W CM series Floor standers.

They looked nice with their yellow kevlar cones and the light grey roll surrounds in a mapel veneer box BUUUUT!

They never sounded like much. Were so sleepy that even with Naim driving them I never sanpped my fingers or tapped my feet.

Bad experience with the 52?

No... I don't think I put that clearly. The 82 gave me less music (than the 72), the 52 put the music back (with more detail).

Hi

Arcam FMJ P25 power amp to go with my FMJ A22 intergrated, big sound stage less PRaT. Good thing is it made me sell both and bought a 202/200 Big Grin.

James..

I don't get that at all. You've had a pop at the 250 many times on this forum & I'm flummoxed Confused

I did the same newish 180 to old 250 trick and thought the 250 was miles better. Keeps its composure when pushed muuuuch better and rocks like a monkey when pushed reaaaly hard.

What up????

Oh btw.. my least etc etc was Doublets to Credos but thats another story. Suffice to say the hifi stuff became clearer but the music went west Frown

Heartbreaker by Ryan Adams on Doublets made me realise the guy had/has the goods. Credos made him suck..
