Why is this topic closed? It should have plenty of comments.
We have expected that something will suffer from the naim market development. I did not expect that it would be the forum.

Emil,
You may have noticed the thread in question is actually five years' old and refers to the time the previous incarnation of this forum was 'launched' (I gather it was a radical change over the old 'Conference') and I think Adam's point is that history is repeating itself to some extent with some of the complaints that can be found on that thread being similar (in style if not necessarily in content) to now.
Hope that helps in some way...
Cheers,
JR

Do you think that the reasons are similar?

This Groupee thing doesn't seem much different to me - FWIW. Perhaps just my negative cast of mind?

Emil F. asked:-
"Do you think that the reasons are similar?"
I think that if you've spent a long time being a member or a part of someting you've got used to then any change or upheaval is usually disruptive, not least because of the unpredictable response from 'established' members. Some live with it and carry on, some hate it and leave. And quite a fair proportion in the middle of those two extremes take issue with an aspect or some aspects of the changes they don't like. I think this happens in all sorts of situations and not just internet forums, so I think it's nothing more than symptomatic of human nature.
Cheers,
JR

The intention was to make the change with AS LITTLE CHANGE to the forum as possible - while upgrading the search and download speed to decent levels.
This has been achieved.
Content & moderation - the debate continues. Speed and search - less to complain about. I know - it's annoying.

I think Adam is a full-time quality controller, customer services representative and a few other things as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, Adam.

I wouldn't worry too much Wolfe. Adam is just Naim's stab at artificial intelligence.
Once they went digital it was almost inevitable they'd want a truly advanced forum moderator module out of their largely under-employed R&D staff. A few bits and pieces from the stores shelves, a quick sniff of Multicore flux and hey-presto!
Being Reference Series he doesn't have off-days or need re-capping for a good while yet. The latest generation of cooling fans result in very low noise.
Naturally he's left on all the time on his own dedicated spurs so he can interject 24 x 7.
I am given to understand that the recent Groupee hiatus was simply to get him re-cased and properly Fraimed-up for factory visitors' inspection as they are frog-marched swiftly through the foyer.
Expensive, but (probably) worth every penny in the long-term.

Reference series or not, the motorcycle riding feature gives concern about transport longevity issues and replacement over time...

Please repeat.
I am still up as I just bought TONS of CDs today from FOPP - Between The Buttons never sounded so good. And the Animals, Captain Beefheart, B52s, Burt Bacharach (spelling), Catch a Fire, Exile on Main Street, Pretzel Logic - too many for one weekend.
Off to watch Koyaanisqatsi - if I can stay awake.

How do we find out what kit Adam is using?
No mention of turntables so it's probably a CD3.5 on an Ikea table.
Sounds as if he needs a decent CD multiplayer though! Or a servant.
Given his music choice I can feel another "Music from Hell" post coming on.

All sitting, I presume, on a Mana stand?

A Mana stand, yeah, and btw Adam's ceasing his membership of the Naim forum and joining PFM instead! ;-)

Hope you didn't mind the leg-pulling, Adam. Just my way of thanking you for my having to visit a Fishing tackle shop staffed by extras from the film "Deliverance" in search of 2lb line.
Still, it could have been worse you know, I could have let slip the fact that you use A******E!

Don't remember breaking your ARO bias thread.
Hope you didn't mind the leg pulling x3 either.

Wouldn't wish the Deliverance experience on anyone - having bought petrol in Monahan from a close Duelling Banjos relative.
