Non or Low Alcohol content beers / lagers

OK - stop laughing at the thought of it !!!
Hangovers are no stranger to me at times but with the onset of summer and the neighbourly barbeques being planned (joys of moving to a new house on a new development and everyone wanting to find out who they don't like and the best way is a BBQ) I foresee a lot of beer being consumed.
Given that I drive a lot now and I want to be sensible and safe I am now looking to low or non alcoholic beers / lagers for during the week.
Anyone got recommendations ????????

becks Alcholhol-free is pretty good but easily the best is a German import called Bitburger Drive. Very impressive and ttally convincing. No aftertaste. I think that Waitrose carry it. Several light years away from kaliber.

Chaps
These beers taste appalling.
I would rather drink a shandy or coke.

This site will give you some pointers
http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/style/5/Mick's right in that they are appalling but there are varying degrees of appalling and it's not as if Fosters or XXXX set the bar high. Oh, and the hangovers can be just as bad. Safest to go German. I'd probably go water over coke, shandy or alcohol free.

I'm beginning to think along the lines of Mick. I remember Swan Light being acceptable and I always find "English" beers to be too weak compared with beer North of the border (I am sure Tom Alves may agree).
I think the idea of a couple of beers to start, switch to a nice sparkling water (oh dear, another thread !) and end a good evening with a nice dram and some decent music could be a recipe for success !

I'm with Mick. Disgusting stuff and what's the point anyway? Get some freshly squeezed fruit juice. Loverly taste and does you good too.

Non alcoholic/low alcholic "beer" is no beer, and it'll give you a headache anyway. Drink water or juice or even coke.
Rob.

You say neighbourly BBQs so no driving involved there, are you thinking of the next day?
Either way I would recommend you have just one of your favourite tipple then hit the fruit juice, as Jez says.

Another vote for the same, Low Alcohol Beer is utterly pointless. There are literally hundreds of soft driks that are much nicer.

As Non or Low Alcohol content beers taste bad, you can mix lager beer with fizzy drink ( in Germany it is called "Radler" ), this is refreshing and not so sweet.

I find that after a few pints of water, I get thirsty and have to keep drinking. This is not only good for my kidneys, reduces appetite and is generally extremely healthy, but it gets addictive and I end up really enjoying it. Give it a proper trial and see what you think. ( I find I can go four pints without having to pee - it becomes a sport

)
