New Name Range

By the way - how do you feel about the new "tags"?
When I first joined as a customer I queried my “Junior" status - being grizzled and horribly experienced.
Juniors are now "New". Then you are reborn as a Member - a while later you become "Senior". (New Members stay New for longer than before – please be considerate, and report any obvious “Trolls”).
Hope that last has not been devalued by the "Senior Citizen" euphemism so beloved by governments of contemptuous yoofs.

I have to say I hadn't even noticed I'd become a 'Senior Member'. Are the tags applied according time, number of posts, or what?

ps. How long before I'm 'Venerable Sage' ?

It is merely volume dependent - unfortunately there is no filter for quality.
I have resisted (so far) the temptation to have some "Special Terms" for compulsive posters.

I'd prefer Dill The Dog ! though Robinson's oppo wouldn't be too hard to accept, innit.
Fritz Von Great Lord Architect Protector Parry has a ring to it too

Well Jez, I guess somebody would have to venerate you for you to become venerable.

They are a bit predictable, couldn't we go from Snaps/FC/HC/SC etc ????

I've been called a "member" by worse than this lot.

Just a tad nerdy?

Yes - "member" has its unfortunate cognates.
Perhaps a rating scale based on tumescence?

Euwwwwwwwwwwwww!
That gives the phrase "Thread to Rate Albums Using Nick Lees Head as a Quality Index " a whole new spin!!!

...then do "Senior Members" require some pharmaceutical assistance such as Viagra?

I knew I was lied to. Size IS important after all. Hah! Another myth perpetuated by the anti-feminist lobby...

Adam,
I know I'm no spring chicken, but I loath this 'senior member' tag.
How about just go by: altho, this tag would offend many vegitarians for sure.
Well-done
Medium
Medium-rare
Rare
Raw
And add a feature that user can choose thehir own?

I'm for the latter. Nothing like a bit of ceativity.
Othwerwise, the emphasis on meat is beginning to seem a little pointed.

I liked Richard Branson's original plans to call Virgin's passengers Upper Class, Middle CLass, and Riff-raff.

A few Aussie Tags: Drongo, Dingo, Boofhead, Dickhead, Ratbag.
Put them in any order you like.
Number of Posts do not count.
Do New Zealanders have a similar list?

The problem with that scale is that the best way to do a steak is rare!
Cue opening of can of worms!

The dictionary gives 2 definitions of venerable:
1. profoundly honored; "revered holy men"
Which perhaps fits Mick and Fritz better than it fits me.
But I certainly qualify on definition 2:-
impressive by reason of age; "a venerable sage with white hair and beard"

No thanks, I'll stick with the steak.

Perhaps the presence of poster's present post-counts postfixed to poster's posts makes the tags redundant?
Posted on: 14 February 2005 by NaimDropper
Could have a histogram showing frequency of posts and on which board... And showing if they post on long threads (like "jaw") or post one liners that no one answers...
Or just leave it as it is and let us "members" age gracefully (or not) into Senior Status.

OK.
How about:
Groucho: 5001+ posts
Chico: 2501-5000 posts
Harpo: 1001-2500 posts
Not ready for the prime time:
Gummo:501-1000 posts
Zeppo: 1-500 posts
It'll be no time before NB wil become Groucho.
(all he needs is another Jaw thread )
