Where to start?

(Sorry Alex for hijacking your thread)

the best place to start are these three gems;

Sound of Confusion, v guitar based and wall of sound type stuff

The Perfect Prescription, changing style, keyboards, mellow sound being introduced.

Playing With Fire, collection of EP's, again a mixture of guitar but on the whole a more mellow approach apart from suicide live, the start of the obvious differences between the two songwriters.

There are lots of comps around of rare and live stuff which on the whole are worth a listen.
It is also worth checking out stuff buy a band called Loop who were around at the same time their LP's Fade out & Heavens End, however their stuff is v hard to get hold of.

All early singles are on a compilation called Transleucent Flashbacks which should be readily available. I always like to start at the beginning when getting into a new group. It means you get to grips with where they were coming from rather than having that crushing disappointment when buying rough early stuff later on.

iiyama,
Regarding Loop you are too right - fucking fantastic they were. My own favourite is the John Peel sessions "Wolf Flow" - do you have it?

My sassy secretary has spent the afternoon compiling results, and it looks like I'll be buying "Perfect Prescription" for starters.

Thanks all.

Loop did a Can cover (Mother Sky?), so there is a nice follow through.

ITC - Spizz Energi - Wher's Cpt Kirk?

I've got A Gilded Eternity on vinyl, but never heard it, 'cos my LP12 doesn't play 45s. I think its a Chain With No Name ltd edition too.

A Gilded Eternity was their "difficult" album, but I spent many a happy hour at University listening to it. What a shame you can't play it though.
