Hi Andy

I take it you don't mean my Zero 7 thread, which still lives!

I love the album, and have been playing it a lot.

Got it this weekend.

Generalyl dissapointed sounds a bit like radio 2 fodder and mostly like their first album.

Infact I think thay have alternated the man and woman singing in exactly the same order as the first album.

Oh Well.

i've also bought the Sia Furler album 'colour the small one' (she sings on the Zero 7 CD).

It's very good, in a Goldfrappy/Stina Nordenstan/Beth Gibbons kind of way. Very close and initmate vocals too. Her vocal style may be an aquired taste though!

I saw Zero 7 last night in Norwich. It was a great gig. The playing was fun and spontaneous (which I hadn't expected') and the vocals superb and, belive it or not, audible!

OK Sia Furler is a cookie ( I love cookies myself), but what a wonderful voice! The harmonies (occasionally 5 singers) were spot on and, Tina Dicow was gorgeous as well as a fine singer. The variety, as singers walked on and off and keyboardists swapped instruments, made it an interesting evenings music.

For a keyboard geek-boy like me it was heaven. When I were a lad, I'd stand at the front of the stage checking out the keyboards. Of course, this would be a dull thing to do these days with anonymous black boxes or laptops. Zero 7 had, amongst other things, a Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer piano, Moog Source (I miss mine), Roland Juno and what looked suspiciously like a Solina String synth. Charming.

I went with a friend who's early 20s and remarked to her that the stage set up (and music, to some degree) reminded me of my first gig in the '70s. This feeling was enhanced by the Gerry Garcia-a-likes on stage, the smell of dope and a young guy behind me in a wooly hat.

I kid you not.

Big Grin

Stephen

PS Here's Tina. I'm not obsessed with Scandinavian women, oh no.....
