Help!

Although I have managed now to post a couple of pictures on the sistem pics thread they look very fuzzy. Can anyone expalin in layman's terms where I am going wrong?

For the record I am using PM View Pro on trial. I open a picture at it maybe, say, 900 kb. I then go to transform and select size to reduce the maximum pixel count to below 500. I then go to file and select save as and select options and reduce the quality until the image is below 50kb and then save as a jpeg.

And yet the pictures are appearing fuzzy. The only thing I can think of is that I am composing pictures with too much ancillary detail and therefore starting off with an image with a huge number of bytes. By the time I have reduced the image as above it becomes fuzzy.

Looking at other picutres I have taken the byte count is as low as 80/90 bytes. Maybe these pictures can be reduced to below 50kb and they will not look fuzzy.

Lowering the quality value will reduce the sharpness and detail of the image.

Also editting an image and saving it as jpg and then closing the image and reopening and saving again as jpeg will progerssively reduce the quality of the image.

when trying to get below the 50kb value - first of all reduce the size so the maximum pixel count is 500, then do a save as with a quality value of say 85 - do not close the file. Check the file size, if too big reduce the quality value by say 5% and resave again - keep repeating this until the image is reduce sufficiently

If it proves impossible to keep the sharpness - and you have some web space - reduce the image to the required pixel size, place on your web space and then link to it from the Infopop posing.
