Ouch! Encona Original Hot Pepper sauce is plenty, if I want spice and the ability to taste anything...

There is a nice set of reviews here of sauces available in the UK, many available through Hotheadz when their website is working...

DIY Chilli Vodka anyone..?

Encona is the best all-round I've found. Mild enough to be used in a 'ketchup manner' but spicy enough to be worth bothering with.

The only sauces I've tried that have lived up to the hype have been the Dave's Insanity sauces - which I find aren't that pleasant in flavour terms and just a tad too hot for me (and I eat chile-based meals at least four nights a week - and I also grow my own plants).

Never tried the Blair's sauces, but these days I go for flavour over out&out heat.

By the way, folks, it's chile pepper not chillie or chili. Chili is the mexican dish and the plural of chile is chiles not chillies. I always cringe when I read so-called 'informed' books who get this most basic of facts wrong...

Chile vodka is easy - get some nice & spicy peppers - Habs are best (and infuse a nice citrus flavour along with a good heat). Just pop 'em in and wait...

Last year we had 40+ chile plants of various types growing in the greenhouse - everything from heatless varieties through to GNS Red Savina PVP (which was a bit disappointing).

Chiles rock!

I can recommend the Marie Sharpes range from Belize. They have a large selection ranging from the mild to the nuclear. However, I am not sure if they are available in the UK or even outside Belize. Those on the other side of the pond are more likely to have sampled them.
However, I am no expert so I am not saying they are the best!

I liked this response best....

I personally think Tabasco is hot, I never was much for hot foods but my friend Bill and I made a bet that I wouldn't be able to hold a shit for 60 minutes after taking 20 Super Lax's from http://www.grandmas-herbs.com/remedies/ProductDetails.cfm?Product=40 I ended up shitting myself within 30 minutes. If I was able to hold it for 60 minutes, Bill would have had to give me 60 bucks but since I lost, I had to take 1 tsp of Source. Since I already had a problem with my ass, the only thing that was coming out was blood and tissue. I ended up getting a reverse-douche from the emergency room. I know it was a stupid bet to make but I never expected this to be so hot, he said it was alot hotter then Tabasco but I never had anything hotter then Tabasco. For those of you that are using this stuff for pranks on people, you better think twice, you can get really messed up from this stuff. The worse thing was that my insurance still hasn't covered the bill from the hospital. - Dave
