Nait 3 Remote Conversion

Posted by: motokr1s on 20 April 2004

Hello Everyone

I was wondering whether it's possible to get remote control added to a Nait 3 by Naim, I suppose thus turning it into a Nait 3R?
If so how much would it cost?

Thanks in advance for any help

There's nowt so funny as folk! - a week or so ago there was somebody who wanted to disable their Nait 3R's remote.

Why - does it adversely affect the sound?

Wonder if they want to swap? Smile

Hy Chris!think it is not possible.
Other frontplate potimotors for volume and balance, remote control, remote eye inside the
amp are needed(and a lot of work).Better and not so expensive would be to sell nait3 and go for nait3r.Price difference on ebay between the non r and r will be nearby 200 euro.(those
r are very rare.)Sound is identic.(I did the change one week ago.)Paid 540 euros for 3R.
But if 5 or 5i is your cup of tea I wood go for
them.5 you can often find at ebay. And if you are intrested in hometheatre ,unitygain is a good feature of 5 series.

He he - or do a swap with some money for the 3R over your 3 Smile

I have a 3, and to be honest, a remote's more hassle than it's worth; if I want to play vinyl rather than CD for example, I have to go and physically change the software, so while I'm there I switch the amp Smile

Hy domfjbrown!Vinyl is ok without remote(although i have a remote controlled B&O turntable in my dining room and its great to change tracks during the dinner
,not leaving the chair.(cool austin powers factor if guests come for dinner.)

But sometimes i listen on my mainaim Cool hifi to classic radio or
other sources( Nakamichi tape, mini disc)and remote is very comfortable. Also different levels on different sources.

Thanks for your replies.

Really I just wanted a remote volume control as I tend to want to listen to some tracks louder than others. As you say dom, if you're switching sources chances are you're changing the disc/record/whatever anyway.

Not sure I want the hassle of selling and buying again especially considering my Nait 3 is mint, so it looks like I'm just gonna have to settle for getting up off my fat arse to turn it up!
