Hostal Abrevadero
Vila i Vila, 79
08004 Barcelona.
Tel 0034 934 412 205/ 0034 934 412 206
info@hostalabrevadero.com
www.hostalabrevadero.com
Situated 1 minute from Paral-lel metro station (also the start of the fenicular railway up to the Olympic village) 10 minutes walk from Placa Colon, 15 minutes walk from La Rambla along Nou La Rambla, and 20 minutes walk from Placa Catalunya.
All rooms are clean and have on-suite bathrooms, and with with satellite TV.
I have stayed here 3 times so far and last time in December last year I payed €63 per night for a double room including breakfast. It seems to be cheaper if you ask for a quote by email.
Regards,
Steve.

I've only ever stayed at the Hotel Colon, in the gothic quarter. Nice hotel, clean and pleasant. Good spot to stay in.
Depending on the nature of your visit, if I might recommend also recommend a night at the hotel in Montserrat (insist on an outward facing room) - stunning, absolutely breathtaking views and a deeply moving place. Less than an hour north of Barcelona and well, well worth the £40-50 per night I seem to recall the room cost. Room itself is clean, nothing flash, but that view from the window... wow!

Anselm,
Have you been to Barcelona before? It's a fabulous place to visit.
If you're into guitar/flamenco music, try to catch Calamento -- they have a regular Sunday spot at the Harlem Jazz Club in the Gothic quarter.
You should also try to catch a concert at the Palau de la Musica.

If you can get a good deal, definitely stay at the Hotel Arts. It is a beautiful hotel, and offers stunning views of the city. If you want to be ridiculously decadent (and c'mon, let's be honest, the decadence is part of Barcelona's appeal), try their luxury bath service.

A good place to look for hotel deals and not just for Barcelona is Octopus Travel
Used them a few times and they have always been cheap.
