Music to test your NAIM amp

Posted by: Robbert on 21 March 2004

Who know's very dynamic and low frequent music to "test" your NAIM amp?

I've a record called Hyper-sonic with Dance-tones from the label D-zone. This is the record with the lowest bassline i've ever heard.

Her a pic from the record
record Hypersonic

I'm not a great fan of the record, but Radiohead's Kid A gives a good range of sounds and is,IMO, really well produced. If you want to really pick out the bass, have a try with Gorecki's 3rd symphony - the bank of bowed double basses that buiuld at the beginning is wonderful. Monica on Tortiose's Standards is also fine.

Either of these will do nicely!
Inside the dub plates
Outside the dubs plates

Enjoy!

Bass test music

Bill Laswell and Jah Wobble - Bass, The Final Frontier.

Bela Fleck - Dance of the Cosmic Hippo - title track - Waaayyy down low (and if its sounds like synth bass your system ain't up to it)

Dean Peer - Ucross - Solo bass album - Recorded live, no over-dubs. Sounds boring, but it's not.

Enjoy

I'm just feeling that way. I don't know why.

I like to use anything by Faithless or the KLF to test teh lower frequencies of my sistem.

OK I recommend this at risk of losing my musical taste credibility:

Any Linkin Park or Chemical Brothers disks will do. There is a Chemical Brothers song aptly called Bass Test.

This is "electronica" music and I sometimes use it to blast my ears clean.

Thanks for the reminder NB, I'll have to dig out The White Room later!

Computers are supposed to work on 1's and 0's - in other words "Yes" or "No" - why does mine frequently say "Maybe"?......

I would say that the Gaetek remixes of RND Technologies' 'Ultrafilter' as a bit of test record. It has popped my 250's thermal cut out a couple of times.

I agree about the Ed Rush, also DB3C 'The Nine'
