Views on the NAT101 tuner and p/s?
Posted by: Sundance on 17 March 2004
I know this tuner wasn't in the league of the NAT01 but can anyone offer a view on it today and how it might compare to a more modern Cyrus FM7 tuner and approx s/h value today?
Thanks in advance.

The NAT101 was widely felt to be on par sonically with the one box NAT02 which effectively replace it.
NAT02s fetch in the region of £500-700, and NAT101s fetch £400-500. Bear in mind though that 101s will all be over 15 year old and in need of a full service if not done in the last 10 years which cost me £250 for my 2 box NAT01 last year

Hello Sundance.
Naim tuners are good, whatever model you chooose.
I user a NAT05 with my 52/supercap/250/SBL's.
The NAT101 is a good tuner, very musical.
But remember to buy a good aerial for it as
well?
With my 72/hicap/140/Intro 2's I use an Audiolab 8000T tuner, which is also very good.
p.s. Are you still using the CD3 or have you changed it?

I have heard every Naim tuner and would say that a NAT05 sounds better than a 101. The NAT03 is the poor relation but even that is damn good.
Having said that, the 101 has more of a personality and is non remote.
The NAT02 sounds better and this is bettered by the NAT01.
So my order of preference would be
NAT01
NAT02
NAT05
101
NAT03
