Help! No power to preamp

Posted by: Steve C. on 23 March 2004

Last night I received my recently purchased used 112/150 combo. Used the supplied interconnect, which appears to be a 4-pin to 4-pin model, to connect the amp to the preamp. I think I attached to the correct output on the pre, the next to last socket on the left. The amp powered up fine but the pre did not. Did I do something wrong? Do I have the wrong kind of interconnect, or is there possibly a problem with the preamp? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

I might be off the mark here.

All olive pre amps that could have the addition of a power supply have two dins on the back. One five pin one four pin.

If you intened to ppower the pre amp with the 150 then the five pin port needs a blanking plug, this in simply gary talk means the pre amp knows to draw power from the power amp.

As I say this is olive series stuff and might be different with the newer kit.

I once bought a CD3.5 and the dealer forgot to put in the blanking plug. They drove 20 miles each way to get it to me that evening.
(It was Audio T from Basingstoke.)

There is a blanking plug in the Aux input intended for use with the phono stage or headphone amp, but not one in the extra output. Might have fallen out in the box, I'll check. If not, can I move the one in the Aux input over? Would that work?
