Advice re a trip to Canada
Posted by: Hawk on 30 July 2004
Im lucky to be going on a business trip to Canada and will have two free days to explore either Vancouver Island or Whistler... can anyone recommend any must sees????
Another question for the locals!? I want to buy a digital SLR but dont know whether to buy it here in the UK, at duty free or in Canada.
How much would a Nikon D70 or a Canon E10 cost out there and would anyone reccomend a good dealer in the vancouver area??
Thanks in advance

It's all great . Vancouver is a great city.
Personally, I'd take the ferry out to Victoria on the island. have high tea at the Empress Hotel, check out Butchart Gardens, native art galleries, and all the frickin' seals.
Whistler is nice too. Rustic cabins, great forests, ski mountains etc.
But right in the city is Stanley Park with giant redwood trees and Aquarium...or trendy Granville area with big city excitement and great "bird" watching. Remember, Canada is famous for its beavers.

Vancouver is one of the best cities in the world to visit. There a lots of good restuarants and plenty to see.
Visiting Victoria, in particular Beacon Hill park and the Royal BC Museum, along with Buchart Gardens are worth doing.
I'd skip Whistler seeing you only have two days.
Try looking at :

Places To Visit :
The Vancouver Museum
Stanley Park
Grouse Mountain
Museum Of Anthropology

Hi Neil.
If you do go to the Museum of Anthropology you should also wander down to the beach behind it. It's called Wreck Beach......a good place to let it all hang out ;You also might want to check out the Hi-Fi Center on seymour street downtown, our Naim dealer.
Have fun
Sandy
