112/150 question + SBL question

Posted by: Le Chef on 24 October 2000

Which is likely to work best 112/150/Flatcap 2 + SBL's or 102/180 + Credo's? Dowe know when these models will be released in the US and likely prices? See "Downsizing" below and you will begin to appreciate some of the math that's going on in my head right now...

My SBL's are old and do not have new drivers. How big a hassle is it to change them? Does it cost a fortune, and do they have to go back to the dealer/factory or can they be "rebirthed" at home by the dealer?

Many thanks if you can help me with answers to these two questions.

Salut Le Chef

My dealer put the tweeters away and broke up the seal from the 2 lower cabinets. He took only the mid/bass driver cabinet with him.
The next day he came back with the new fixed drivers and sealed/set up the SBL's properly.

I don't think he can do this at yours, because the new driver is a little deeper and he has to get rid a bit of some MDF to get enough space inside... (I did not see the inside, though).

It costed me 1000 SFr. and was well worth the money!

If your SBL is very old, there was a change of the PXO too, but I think your driving active?

happy listening

I'm currently driving active, but in my downgrading scenario I'm likely to go passive so would want to change the x-overs
