Fahrenheit 9/11

Posted by: Arye_Gur on 24 July 2004

Yesterday I saw the movie, I think this is a great one but I wonder if it is not heavily biased against President BUSH.

What do you think about it, especially if there are members from the USA who saw the movie?

I think that the fact that Moore could make such a movie in his own country is a great prove for a free speech in the USA.
I don't think that I have a problem with a free speech. Free speech rights don't mean that I have to agree with someone else's opinion. BTW, I'm quite sure that the Palestinians in Israel have absolutely free speech possibilities - not like their brothers in our Arab neighbors countries in the area.

Israeli people I've recently met here in Berlin
and quite a few in the past will not agree with you Ayre, and the Palestinian guy I spoke to this morning, who I've known for some 15 years (well I don't think you want to hear his views !). Have you ever been outside of Israel yourself I wonder, hopefully the answer is Yes, many times ?

Cheers, anyway, and we'll keep on rocking for a FREE world.

Fritz,
I don't know whom you know, but I guess that you understand that all you know by the media about the Palestinians is because Israel allows free press at the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.
I wonder - what terrible facts do people tell you that you don't see on TV? (I'm sure that they do tell you how the Palestinians are murdering their own people, like they did two weeks ago to a 15 years old boy whose family didn't let them firing a missile from their yard?)

Who gave her the information that changed her mind?

So you think a dead son is something that shouldn't shake the way you feel about the world? OK...

However you didn't pay attention. LL says she / they had always been "conservative democrats". You mix it up with the little flag thing she does, but not every person with a USA flag is a republican.

To me the most devastating moment in F 9 / 11 is when LL "goes to Washington". She walks up Pennsylvania Avenue, there's that little tent and then she has the misfortune to run into a flagwaving Republican. LL cries "my son died" and the other woman just says "many people died" - in other words, who gives a f u c k about your son getting incinerated in a tank (as long as he's not mine): we need to get Bush reelected.

I still have a hard time replaying that moment in my mind. The sheer brazenness of that woman. And unfortunately I know this is what Bush has done to America. I used to love the place, lived there for much of the Nineties, but the political culture has become terrible. That horrible talk radio thing. It started some time in the nineties (the Whitewater / Monica investigation got ten times as much federal funding as the investigations into how 9 / 11 could have happened).

Erm Herm they wont go away just because you dont like them mate, I trust also that Mr Moore defends these recent accusations, time will tell ? Listening to sport talk radio UK last eve on the short and curly wave, where they discussed gipsys cum travelling people, frightening stuff, would've made goebbles proud.
As has long been established, pushing things and aspects of society únderground makes them all the more more dangerous, you get my drift, off tonread Europes biggest daily rag "Das Bild" all pictures and incredible imagination, just like many on this forum have, innit.

Ayre old bean, just to answer your point which I've done many times before
actually (and this will be the last time on this thread) I do regularly watch
Israeli TV as well as being informed (or rather informing myself) about
Palestinian internal problems (nothing new there unfortunately either) and make
my own judgements on the material available (when it interests me, as there's
only 24 hours in a day and the middle east is not on my priority of interests
list) and the world is a big place to constantly fret over.

Erm Herm, I would also like to (REPEAT) that as with say Vietnam, Korea (UN),
Suez, Iraq & Argentina (on their sides) the loss of Conscript youngsters who had
no choice is a bigger tragedy even than those recent Scottish mothers for
instance who's young sons went into battle as professional soldiers and as part
of a 100% professional army (a point which Mr Moore is well aware of) as is the
case with thew US troops, including reservists.

The best part Arye old bean is that you're seemingly serious ! If you look
through recent various threads you'll see me describe you as "Our honourable
member from Haifa" this is a neutral term of address used by British Politicians
as a mark of respect though not love, and shows my feelings towards taking
anything you say and ask seriously aqnymore, you've basically had enough time,
and have had your pennyworth going over and over and over the same ground
without remorse, I know you're not stupid or uneducated, and I must say your
friends probably aren't either.
If you really want to be taken seriously by me
(others speak for themselves & have done so many times also) you have to change
your attitude on this subject, or you've just got not chance what'sover, that's
the bottom line as they say in the real world old mate. I personally learn
something new everyday (Chief laughs in background) listen Arye, there are other
opinions out there far more educated than yours or mine, and we can only go
forward and learn by listening to them without interrupting them every ten
seconds.

P.S. We can talk in this thread about F 9/11, and Mike Moore's work, that's it,
understand my friend, ohtewr subjects dear to your/our hearts belong in other
threads, or we'll all get in a right old pickle wont we ? Smile
