Watching the olympics most of the over night.
Could not help seeing the death and destruction that,"Charlie", has caused.
Hope you and your families are safe and together...

Hi,
Thank you for your concern. I am fine but without power.
I am currently staying in a hotel until I do get power back.
All Naim gear was moved to the centre of the apartment to keep it safe (I have my priorities right!!)
I live about 3 miles from Orlando International Airport where they recorded winds of 103 MPH.
I feel for the poor sods on the coast round Punta Gorda with 145MPH winds - 103MPH scared the crap out of me.
Not sure if there are any other Orlando based Naimee's - if there are let me know if I can help in any way.
Regards
Richard

I have heard from friends in Orlando today, and they were OK thank goodness. Street lighting down in downtown Orlando and Windermere a half mile away is flattened - many old trees lost.
I guess there will be some panic buying of orange juice over here!!
Our thoughts and best wishes are with you.

I was enjoying a short break on Key West when the mandatory evacuation order came. There, the locals have seen it all before and take it in their stride. That helps calm jittery outsiders like me.
Unfortunately, many of the victims had no experience of hurricanes. A lot of them are old and poor, and any help would be appreciated.
If you feel so inclined, please go here
Regards,
Davie

Was Boca damaged in any way or was it just a case of a good wetting.
We are feeling very sad for the people in the Ft Myers Beach area and Key West as we have had some pleasant times there.

Boca was unscathed. We all know we're long overdue in Palm Beach County for a direct hit.
The forecasting is superb, but Charley proved that there really isn't a safe place to run in Florida.

I'm glad you fellas are ok.
I've been told that my cousin's freshman year at Tallahasee or Gainesville (I forget) will likely be delayed. Also- my uncle's previous house in Winter Park (sold 3 months ago) was split down the middle by a massive tree. My grandparents in St. Petersburg were very, very scared but they and all their friends are fine.
The people I feel for are those hard working folks struggling to get by beforehand, now without a place to live.

Hello, I'm french, and now I am thinking about all the people of Florida, after this terrible storm. I will never forget my year spent in central Florida, and especially the kindness of the people I met.
