Jade Warrior appreciation (where's my old kimono?)

Is this an old hippy thread? Well, I don't care.

I just found a CD of Jade Warrior's first album (on Vertigo/Repertoire), thinking that it would be hopelessly dated from when I first listened to it 30-odd years ago. However, I re-discovered an enchanting sound; kind of a Zen Jethro Tull, a bit of admittedly dated early 70's riffage, but a lot of ambient Asian-sounding music that is lovely. I intend to get Last Autumn's Dream as well, also haven't heard since way back. They went on to do a series of albums on Island that may be even better (The Floating World, Waves, Kites) etc. that wouldn't be out of place on the shelf next to Eno's ambient series, in fact they did it first. As they went on, they got even more minimalist and Zen-sounding.

Anybody else here like to listen to Jade Warrior while doing the tea ceremony or practising with your Samurai sword? What albums d'you recommend? I don't even know what CDs of theirs are in print.

Funny to read this because I've done the same thing a couple of months ago (Kites). Jade Warrior are hopelessly underrated, maybe because they were indeed ahead of their time (and not that much a hippy band). Very fine sound and absolutely listenable today.

Another band that still sounds wonderful today is Strawbs - a little dated this one, but very enjoyable.

I just got a copy of Elements (the Island anthology w. Floating World, Kites etc.), and it's brilliant. It's also out-of-printFrown, which means trolling the used sites/stores. I was listening yesterday, when the weather outside my pagoda was foggy & grey in a Zen way. Perfect!
