How disappointing.

I had really hoped to read some witty comment ( hey, its only a joke!! ) from north of the border ref. the lucky England win tonight.

Har har har.

Such glee.

OK Mike - just to keep you happy.

If Switz - er - land had been given the penalty that they deserved when one of the fugly Chuckle Brothers held / pushed the Swiss forward, you would have duly sh*t yourselves.

Seriously though, once you had weathered the early, expected pressure - there was only one winner.

Note to Sven - teach Heskey to spit at opponents Wink

Basically because we had our fun for a couple of hours the other night but taking the piss is actually much less interesting than exchanging real views with real football fans. It's also not very amusing when it's as easy as it is with wankers like you. Shooting fish in a barrel as they say.

Life is too short to waste time interacting with jumped up ignorant little Englanders like you. But feel free to continue frothing at the mouth cos we don't all love you.

PS Gotcha.

PPS. Its often best not to post when pissed because come the morning drunken posts can make you look a right twat.

LTD - well done for a considered response.

The Croatia game could be a good one as they require a win and in the France game they looked a decent side when they were attacking. Our new signing Prso looks promising as well.

England did look quite shaky for much of the Switzerland game, however they did get the result they needed and have a decent chance of qualifying.

I thought several of the England players player very poorly though - the goalkeeper, all of the defence except Cambell, Scholes (surely England have at least one decent left sided player) and Owen. Much as I hate to say it perhaps England should have included Alan Thompson and Chris Sutton in the squad because they look better than several of the players on show yesterday.

You're right there. Living with a pre-menopausal woman (half-English!) isn't improving my temper at the moment.

But please don't refer to "Jocks" or "Scotch" or "the Scotch". Where I'm from these terms are no more acceptable than "Paki".

"Much as I hate to say it perhaps England should have included Alan Thompson"

He did enought to get his chance but when he got it (in some friendly) he played so poorly that, by common consent, he was not deserving of a second chance.

With Sutton I think he probably would have got more chances if he had been playing in England but he seems quite an awkward individual who kept slagging off various England managers for not picking him and one suspects that he wasn't quite good enough to overcome an impression that he was probably more trouble than he was worth. Besides England have a forwards like Defoe and Smith who are younger and have considerably more potential.

My advice (non-pissed but very pissed off) is get them while they're young and have something to offer and then bugger off. A decent hifi, a few good mates, and a large glass of the golden stuff are worth much more than the illogical rantings of a hormonal harpie. I know that sounds awful but my sense of humour is being severely stressed at the moment.

Sutton's case isn't helped by the fact that he seems to be regarded as an all round unpleasant character (even within Parkhead if my contacts are to be believed). I'm afraid he's defined up here now by the disgraceful accusations of cheating he made against his fellow professionals at the end of last season.

Chris Sutton played the odd game for England, when a Blackburn player.

He didn't make the grade, hence the short England career.

"ISTM women are either pre-menopausal , menopausal or post-menopausal"

That is of course, logically spekaing, unavoidably true for all women.

It does not however explain the impression that all women are evil bitches from hell whose entire purpose in life is to make men's lives difficult and miserable. To explain that a nature vs nature debate rages as scientists continue to seek genes for sexism and misogony.

Ok fair enough, but I don't understand why England are persevering with Owen and Scholes when they are playing so poorly. They need a left sided midfield player badly and IMHO Owen needs to be shown that he has competition for his place.

Nadia is obviously in a special state that involves alternating between the most annoying shrieking noises and laughs talking in a bizarre combinaiton of thick accent and seeming heavy cold that renders her unintelligable.

I suspect she is not a good role-model for transsexuals and this is not an inevitable consequence of the "nip and tuck" operation and hormone treatment.

I trust Nadia is not Matthew's wife ?

I disagree, and so does my wife. Sorry mate, you must have had a shitload of bad experiences. I have a wonderful wife.

Oh, and back to the topic - yep, that counts for Scot's Glee !!!

Heres a tricky one for all the Hoops fans oot there... Croatia have a Rangers player starting tonight... so will they be supporting England?

Toughie.

The Celtic fan in my office says he'll be cheering Prso on tonight - as the lesser of two evils.

I've stuck £10 on Prso as the first scorer at 11:1

This Hoops fan will be supporting England. To my surprise, I've been cheering for you buggers all tournament. Something to do with being the underdogs, perhaps?

The old tribal rivalries don't seem quite so important when you're this far away. Plus I'll be watching the game at the home of an English friend - and it would be bad manners to go all Scottish on him.

I went to the trouble of rigging up a TV feed to the home cinema so watched the match on an 8ft screen. As soon as Croatia scored I was worried as it was definitely too early, but England certainly played better in that game than they have so far in the tournament.

Portugal v England should be interesting - I've no idea who'll win.

Steve:

It's funny how, when you watch England on your own, or with one or two civilised English folk, they don't seem to have horns growing out of their foreheads. In a big group, it's a different story. But then again, I'm sure they feel the same way about us.

Gerrard and Beckham have both mentioned they want to match the England Rugby Team and win a Major Tournament.

Don't rule out England lifting that European trophy.

I've got no issue with the English fans generally (other than the scum in Albuferia etc) but it's the whole '66 business with the press that makes it essential that they are eliminated from the tournament at the earliest opportunity.
