Predicting England losses on pens is neither critical nor brave. They have a 25% success rate so far. Portugal are at home and the best players always miss, so Shrek and Gerrard will miss theirs whilst only Twinkle Toes will miss his.
The reason I don't think England can outscore Portugal is down simply to Ronaldo. Neville has admitted that he makes him look like an idiot in training every day, Beckham and Cole can't really tackle and Scholes even less so. He'll be lucky to stay on the pitch. In this game there's a good case for playing Bridge instead.

"Neville has admitted that he makes him look like an idiot in training every day"
By getting him to read aloud or do some hard sums?

They can but I don't think they will. It doesn't however bode well for Spurs next season watching Arsenal + Zidane struggle so much. The other games will be close.
I just want to know where Steven Gerrard will be playing next season .

One of the joys of this off-season is seeing T*ttenh*m end their 12 month farcical manager search by appointing a man who not only thinks Wiltord is better than Pires but admitted he only took the job becuase he wanted the money.

I am counting the hours to the end of Euro 2004 for the English. I suspect it may be days rather than hours.
However, any artists out there may be amused by the following http:news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/north_east/3833069.stm.
I am campaigning in our double garage household for the compromise option of one English and one Welsh!!!

Oops, a couple of forward slashes required after that first colon. Sorry.

The Dutch are an interesting side aren't they? The manager's a bit of a loon, and many in the squad are past their best, but I just get the sense that they could do it, now they have made it out of the group stage. Certainly it helps that Nistlerooy is not having the sort of tourney that Henry or Owen are having. What do people think?
Good to see the Germans go out without winning a single game (a bit like seeing the Italians go out without losing a single game).
France need to raise their game.

This seems to be true but Davids and Seedorf are playing better than ever for the national team. They used to overdo it with their talents but in this team they are playing very sober which does them good. And certainly the Dutch bench has some very nice younger players like Sneider and vd Vaart. I still think they will get their chance this tournement.

"I still think they will get their chance this tournement."
I hope they do. If England don't win it I'd like to see the Dutch do it, or the Czech Republic.

Davids was brilliant for Barcelona and as important in his own way to them being the best side in Spain in the second half as Ronaldhino was. He is in the best form of his career at the moment and lot of it seems to be about having his ego in check at last.

Henry has scored two goals (so far - watch out Greece). Owen looks as if he doesn't remembers what that means.

Yeah, making fun of the misfortune of your rivals, what a piece of work. Eh? Oh.

The English midfield were awful but the defence played well, especially Campbell (Englands player of the tournament for me) and, surprisingly, Ashley Cole.
The ref had a shocker but Portugal were easily the better team although their defence looks pretty shaky at times.
Top quality entertainment though so here's hoping the rest of the QF matches are as enjoyable.

I don't usually find excuses for a loss, but that ref was the worst ref I've seen for years. You have to be totally convinced that there was a foul to disallow a goal and he wasn't. He was a biased throughout the whole match.
It was a scrappy match and I think anyone who says that it was badly played, has never played a sport competitively.
Beckham played very poorly for his standards. Cole was man of the match.
Oh well, goodbye England, I really thought you were going to win it.

Penalties again.
England played badly. The midfield were anonymous. Still scored two goals. Sol Campbell/Ashley Cole can hold their heads up high. Beckham was poor again - and someone else should take penalties in the future.
The ref played a blinder for Portugal. Sour grapes - yes.
Must check the rule book - but when is losing a boot an offence?
France to win.
